The John Clare Society in Japan | The John Clare Cottage

The John Clare Heritage Centre

The cottage where Clare was born and lived for many years has now been turned into a heritage centre and is open to the general public, and for educational events.  It is run by the John Clare Trust which is chaired by Barry Sheerman MP.

The gardens have been redesigned (with final plantings taking place in autumn 2009).  The dovecote has been renovated and will form part of the ‘out of classroom’ learning experience.  A cafe and gift shop have been installed in the new build area and this will be open for a few hours each day six days a week.

You can learn more about the cottage by visiting their website at http://www.clarecottage.org/.   You can also learn more about the construction of the Centre at YouTube:
